mHUB Venture's Investment

Founded in 2020, mHUB Ventures is the investment arm of mHUB. The firm invests in early-stage hard tech companies solving real-world problems in three thematic areas, Smart & Sustainable Manufacturing, MedTech, and Energy Tech, targeting initial investments of $200K through its Spark Funds and the mHUB Accelerator program.

The initial mHUB Ventures investment includes $100,000 in cash, $30,000 in cash reimbursement for product development, and $70,000 in-kind services for certain fees related to product development, resources, and programming during the six-month highly structured incubation (with two full years of support) in exchange for 6.5% equity in each startup. Approximately 30% of the fund’s capital is reserved for follow-on investments in a select set of the portfolio.

Program Structure

The mHUB Accelerator is a fast-paced program that’s designed to take your startup from concept or prototype to the foundation of a profitable, scalable and sustainable business. The 6-month, hands-on program connects surrounds teams with product engineering expertise and a hose of market and business intelligence leaders. Teams continue to receive support for an additional 18 months of continued  mHUB membership and access post program.

Areas of Focus

mHUB is looking for early-stage startups working on hardtech and infrastructure solutions in renewable energy, hydrogen, carbon capture & sequestration, energy storage, vehicle-to-grid solutions, heat sink technologies, distributed energy resources, sustainable buildings and the Internet of energy.

mHUB is excited to hear where you see opportunity for disruption.

Smart Grids

To advance technologies that enable data centers and large compute loads to operate as flexible grid assets providing demand response, dispatchable capacity, and gridstabilizing.

Cooling Technology

To improve performance, reduce cost, and lower water and energy consumption of data center cooling technologies designed for high-density AI compute workloads.

Long-Duration Storage and Batter Technology

To advance long-duration energy storage and behind-the-meter battery systems that match the 24/7 demand profile of compute infrastructure with carbon-free, firm power.

Advanced Materials and Compute Efficiency

To improve the energy efficiency of compute through innovations in semiconductor materials, chip architectures, advanced packaging, and software-hardware co-design that maximize useful work per watt.

Decarbonization and Carbon Utilization

To reduce operational and embodied carbon across the lifecycle of compute infrastructure and innovate on carbon capture and utilization technologies suited to data center scale.

Energy Quality

To improve power quality, voltage regulation, and power conditioning technologies that protect sensitive compute equipment while reducing energy losses across the data center.

Infrastructure Resiliency

To improve the resilience of compute infrastructure against grid disturbances, extreme weather, and cyber-physical threats through clean backup power, microgrid architectures, and predictive response technologies.

On-Site Energy Generation

To advance on-site, behind-the-meter generation technologies, including fuel cells, small modular reactors, and hybrid renewable systems that deliver firm, low-carbon power to compute infrastructure.

Adaptive Reuse, Modular and Micro Data Centers

To enable adaptive reuse of existing infrastructure and advance modular, prefabricated, and edge data center designs that reduce embodied carbon, compress timelines, and improve siting flexibility.

Embodied Carbon and Circular Hardware

To reduce embodied carbon and advance circular hardware solutions across the lifecycle of compute infrastructure through innovations in low-carbon construction materials, hardware refurbishment and secondlife pathways, critical minerals recovery, and supply chain transparency.

Compute Load Transparency and Forecasting

To advance forecasting, profiling, and orchestration technologies that predict compute workload fluctuations and coordinate response across power generation, energy storage, cooling, and grid systems to maximize efficiency and reliability.

Construction, Manufacturing, and Modular Deployment Hardware

To accelerate data center deployment through advances in modular and prefabricated power and cooling hardware, advanced manufacturing of long-lead components, construction robotics, and field-deployable systems that compress build timelines and unlock new siting options.

Meet Your Acceleration Team

Startup teams benefit from the guidance of seasoned entrepreneurs, engineers, investors, and industry leaders who’ve built businesses, raised capital, and helped founders realize their full potential.
