Developing an innovative technology is only part of the journey. Understanding how and when to protect that innovation can have significant implications for commercialization, partnerships, and long-term business growth. From early conversations with potential customers to licensing opportunities and international expansion, decisions made before filing a patent can influence the protection available to your invention.
This workshop explores key intellectual property considerations founders should understand as they develop and commercialize new technologies. Led by Marshall, Gerstein & Borun LLP, this session will examine practical do's and don'ts for discussing, demonstrating, or otherwise disclosing an invention before filing a patent application. The workshop will also explore strategies for protecting inventions internationally, including differences in disclosure rules, filing requirements, timelines, and costs. Finally, participants will discuss how artificial intelligence is influencing innovation, patent protection, and commercialization.
